Angers' crystal triple sec at full spirit strength: the orange that makes the Margarita work.
Angers, France, 1875
Confectioner brothers Adolphe and Édouard-Jean Cointreau opened their Angers distillery in 1849; the clear sweet-and-bitter orange liqueur that carries the name arrived in 1875.
Sweet and bitter orange peels from several continents are macerated in neutral spirit and redistilled in copper stills; sugar rounds it out.
Candied peel and fresh zest in equal measure, warm and dry on the finish; sweetness without syrup.
