The Story

Every origin story names a woman: Carlos 'Danny' Herrera's 1938 tale from Rancho La Gloria near Tijuana stars the actress Marjorie King, and Dallas socialite Margarita Sames claimed a 1948 Acapulco house party. None comes with paperwork. The likeliest account is humbler: border-town bars had been serving tequila Daisies since the 1930s, and margarita is Spanish for daisy.
