Gin, vodka, and Lillet Blanc, invented on the page by Ian Fleming for James Bond, then claimed by bartenders the world over.
Typical way it's made: 3 oz gin, 1 oz vodka, 0.5 oz Lillet Blanc
Ian Fleming wrote it into existence in Casino Royale in 1953: Bond specifies gin, vodka, and Kina Lillet, shaken very cold, then names the result for Vesper Lynd. It is the cocktail Bond invents rather than orders, and real bars have been serving the fiction ever since.
Did you know
A period-accurate Vesper is extinct. Kina Lillet left production in 1986, so modern versions stand in Lillet Blanc or Cocchi Americano and argue about the quinine.
