Padua's bright-orange aperitivo: gently bitter, half the strength of Campari, spritz-ready.
Padua, Italy, 1919
Brothers Luigi and Silvio Barbieri spent seven years on the recipe before unveiling it at the 1919 Padua International Fair.
An infusion of bitter and sweet oranges, gentian, rhubarb, and cinchona over neutral spirit, sweetened and kept deliberately gentle.
Bitter orange and rhubarb with a candied edge; lighter, sweeter, and friendlier than its scarlet cousin.
Did you know
At 11% alcohol it is less than half the strength of Campari, which is what the Barbieri brothers were after: an aperitivo you could drink all evening.
