Citron was among the first citrus fruits to reach the Mediterranean, and Italian distillers were bottling it long before limoncello became a global souvenir. Nardini's version, from the Veneto, is the reference.
The peel of the citron, a thick-rinded citrus grown for its zest rather than its juice, macerates in spirit before sweetening.
