The West Indies' rum punch, mixed to a rhyme and older than the cocktail bar itself. Sour, sweet, strong, weak; adjust to the weather.
Typical way it's made: 2 oz dark rum, 1 oz pineapple juice, 1 oz orange juice, 0.75 oz lime juice, 0.5 oz grenadine, 2 dashes Angostura bitters optional
Rum punch is as old as the sugar colonies, and the planter's version belongs to the West Indies, with Jamaica holding the strongest claim. London's Fun magazine printed a recipe in verse in 1878, and the formula still travels as a rhyme: one of sour, two of sweet, three of strong, four of weak. Everything past that is negotiable.

Myers's rum, made in Jamaica since 1879, marketed itself as 'Planter's Punch Brand' almost from the start, which helped weld the drink to the island.
