Vodka, Cointreau, lime, cranberry. Maligned, then re-evaluated. When made with fresh juice it's a perfectly good drink.
Typical way it's made: 1.5 oz vodka, 0.5 oz triple sec, 0.5 oz lime juice, 1 oz cranberry juice
San Francisco, Miami, and New York all claim a piece of it, and Cheryl Cook's mid-1980s South Beach version is the best-known early sighting. The modern spec was fixed in 1988 by Toby Cecchini at Manhattan's Odeon: new Absolut Citron, Cointreau, fresh lime, and a blush of cranberry. Dale DeGroff's flamed orange twist and one HBO show did the rest.
