Applejack, lime, and grenadine shaken rosy; the apple brandy sour of pre-Prohibition America.
Typical way it's made: 2 oz applejack, 0.75 oz lime juice, 0.5 oz grenadine

A 1905 newspaper credited a New Jersey bartender named Frank May, though rival claims stack up; the likeliest etymology is also the plainest, applejack plus rose.
