Print catches up in 1949, in a Time magazine dispatch from an Istanbul hotel bar. Either way, it did for vodka at breakfast what the Moscow Mule was doing for vodka at night.

Its print debut is Time's October 1949 report from Istanbul's Park Hotel, where Turkish intelligence agents, American engineers, and Balkan refugees were all drinking the new Yankee mix of vodka and orange juice.
