A Negroni where sparkling wine stands in for gin: lighter, brighter, and named for the mistake that made it.
Typical way it's made: 1 oz Campari, 1 oz sweet vermouth, prosecco to top, orange slice
Milan, 1972, mid-rush at Bar Basso: owner Mirko Stocchetto reached for the gin to build a Negroni and came up holding sparkling wine. The house named the accident honestly (sbagliato means 'mistaken') and kept serving it. The family has told the story both ways over the years, which suits a bar that turned a slip into a signature.
