Typical way it's made: 2 oz white rum, 1 oz lime juice, 0.75 oz simple syrup
Jennings Cox, an American mining engineer working near Santiago de Cuba around 1898, is the popularly credited author, and the drink takes its name from the nearby beach and iron mine of DaiquirΓ. Havana's bartenders then refined it into the benchmark it remains: rum, lime, sugar, shaken hard and served cold.
