Typical way it's made: 1.5 oz amaretto, 0.75 oz lemon juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, egg white optional
Amaretto boomed in 1970s America, where it promptly met the sour mix era; the result kept dive jukeboxes company for decades. In 2012 Portland bartender Jeffrey Morgenthaler published a rebuild (cask-proof bourbon, real lemon, egg white) under the cheerful claim that he makes the world's best, and the craft bar quietly agreed.
