Bourbon, lemon, honey syrup: the Whiskey Sour, refined at Milk & Honey.
Typical way it's made: 2 oz bourbon, 0.75 oz lemon juice, 0.75 oz honey syrup
The Gold Rush was invented from a barstool. Around 2000, T.J. Siegal stopped into Milk & Honey, the Lower East Side bar his childhood friend Sasha Petraske had recently opened, and asked for his usual bourbon sour with the house honey syrup in place of simple. That rich three-to-one syrup made it silky, and a whim became a standard.

The drink has offspring: Sam Ross's Penicillin began in 2005 as a Gold Rush riff, built at the same bar with the same honey syrup.
