In 1862 Santiago de Cuba, Facundo Bacardí Massó set out to tame rough cane spirit; charcoal filtering, cultivated yeast, and careful blending produced the first light-bodied white rum.
Molasses spirit off column or pot stills, often rested briefly in oak, then charcoal-filtered until colorless and clean. Cuban-style whites age first and lose their color at the very end.
Quiet by design: cane sweetness, faint vanilla, a grassy top note, a clean finish. It carries lime and mint without elbowing them aside.
Did you know
Many white rums are aged rums in disguise: rested in oak to smooth them out, then stripped of color by charcoal filtration just before bottling.
