Mexico's blue agave spirit, from bright unaged blanco to oak-deep extra añejo.
Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico
Named for the town of Tequila in Jalisco, where blue agave 'mezcal wine' grew from a colonial local trade into Mexico's signature export.
By law, distilled from Weber blue agave in five states: Jalisco plus parts of Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas. '100% agave' means only agave sugars; plain tequila (mixto) needs just 51%. Oak time sets the classes from blanco to extra añejo.
Cooked agave at the core: sweet earth, white pepper, citrus. Oak stacks vanilla and caramel on top as blanco gives way to reposado and añejo.
