Botanical NA spirit and real tonic over plenty of ice. The quinine backbone does most of the work anyway.
Typical way it's made: 2 oz NA gin, 4 oz tonic water, lime wedge
The gin and tonic began as medicine: British officers in colonial India dosed themselves with bitter quinine against malaria and softened it with sugar, soda, and gin. Schweppes bottled the formula as Indian Quinine Tonic in 1870. The zero-proof build closes the loop: with a botanical distillate standing in for gin, the drink is mostly tonic again, on purpose.

The modern NA gin category dates to November 2015, when Ben Branson's Seedlip launched at Selfridges billed as the world's first distilled non-alcoholic spirit; his first thousand bottles sold out in three weeks.
