Red wine, brandy, citrus, and ripe fruit, chilled into Iberia's communal pitcher drink.
Typical way it's made: One 750 ml bottle red wine, 2 oz brandy, 1.5 oz triple sec, 2 oz orange juice, sliced orange steeped and chilled
Spain and Portugal have chilled wine with fruit, sugar, and a shot of brandy for centuries; the name comes from sangre, blood, after the color. The United States met it properly at the 1964 New York World's Fair, where the Spanish pavilion served it to fairgoers, and the pitcher followed everyone home.
