Typical way it's made: 2 oz bourbon, 0.5 oz honey syrup, 0.25 oz lemon juice, hot water to top, cinnamon stick optional
The name walked home from empire: toddy first meant fermented palm sap in India, from the Hindi tari, and British colonials carried the word back until it meant hot liquor, sugar, and water. Scotland adopted the formula in the 18th century as central heating in a glass. The Edinburgh legend crediting Tod's Well for the name is charming and probably wrong.
