Dark rum (Gosling's, by trademark) over ice, topped with ginger beer. Bermuda's national drink.
Typical way it's made: 2 oz dark rum, 4 oz ginger beer, squeeze of lime juice optional (float the rum)
It comes out of Bermuda after the First World War, when a ginger beer plant run under the Royal Naval Officers' Club met Gosling's Black Seal rum. Sailors' folklore says the name describes the look: a storm cloud of black rum hanging over the ginger beer, the kind of sky only a fool or a dead man would sail under.

It is one of the few cocktails that is also a registered trademark. Gosling's has held the name in the United States since 1991 and has gone to court to defend it; made with another rum, it is legally a different drink.
