Gin, lemon, sugar, topped with Champagne. Named after a French field gun for the kick it delivered.
Typical way it's made: 1 oz gin, 0.5 oz lemon juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, Champagne to top
Named for the French 75mm field gun of the First World War and tied to Harry MacElhone of Harry's New York Bar in Paris, it first shows up in the 1922 manuals as simply the "75." By 1927 the full name and the modern gin-and-Champagne build had settled into place.
