A French white vermouth built on Pineau des Charentes, richer than the usual blanc.
Cognac country, France
A modern creation from Charentais producers, named for Jean-Baptiste de La Quintinie, the gardener who ran the kitchen garden at Versailles for Louis XIV.
White wines are blended with Pineau des Charentes, the regional mix of grape juice and cognac, then aromatized with a botanical set built on artemisia, vine flower, angelica, and iris root.
Honeyed white fruit and vine flower over gentle wormwood bitterness, with citrus and cardamom behind. Rounder and less sugary than most bianco vermouth.

Pineau des Charentes is said to have started as an accident, when a winemaker topped up a cask he thought was empty and found cognac still sitting in it.
