Created by Raphael Yakoby, who has said the idea started with a blue bottle in a shop window. It became a nightclub and hip-hop fixture almost immediately and defined the look of a decade of bar shelves.
French vodka, cognac, and tropical fruit juices are blended and bottled at low proof. The blue is added color.
Passion fruit and mango over soft citrus, sweet and light, with the cognac showing as weight rather than flavor.

The color is dye, so every blue drink built on it is borrowing the bottle's look rather than anything the fruit brought.
